CHRISTIAN RESOURCE MINISTRIES
Wins Two Awards in a Row!

Founded and run in the UK by Jim Figgis, the CHRISTIAN RESOURCE MINISTRIES is certainly no stranger when it comes to receiving accolades having recently been selected to receive the prestigious Mission Support Ministry of the Year Award for 2010 sponsored by West Midlands News.

It gives us great pleasure to announce the CHRISTIAN RESOURCE MINISTRIES has now been singled out to receive the Media Today Online Christian Resources Award 2010, an independent Award Programme recognised both locally and nationally.

This Award Scheme was created in order to recognise those organisations and individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to their particular field.

Brought up to read his Bible by the age of 22 Jim Figgis had lost all interest in it and it was some 25 years later before he again felt the desire to pick up his old Bible and read a familiar verse: I Cor. 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

This marked a new stage of Jim’s life, one which saw him again become an avid Bible reader who regularly attended church where he enjoyed meeting people who had an interest in reading Christian books. This was the catalyst for his first Bookshop The Bible Shop which opened its door to the public in 1991.

Today Jim spreads the word of God throughout all corners of the world, as part of his overseas ministry projects: “In 1997, I began corresponding with Morris Dimba, who started Christian Resource Ministries in Blantyre, Malawi (former Nyasaland). When I visited him in 1999 about 30 pastors, some with wives, along with the Dimba family, met me at the airport to meet and for many I was the first European they had ever seen.”

Commenting on receiving this accolade, Jim said:

"I am so pleased to receive this second award, and I hope that CHRISTIAN RESOURCE MINISTRIES will now get the publicity that it deserves. Next year I hope, God willing, to be in Chennai, India, using whatever gifts I have and entering through the doors God opens for me.

Jim has now made 15 trips to Africa and has preached at church services in Nairobi, (Kenya), Malawi (where he was conference speaker, and has helped found an orphanage), and at Durban and Cape Town in South Africa.
