Introducing the Award-winning
Monkton Wyld CAMPING & CARAVAN HOLIDAY Park

Throughout the year, the Directors at Media Today Online select organisations that have best demonstrated a proven ability to go that extra mile in not only meeting but exceeding the needs of their clients. Therefore, in line with this philosophy, it gives us pleasure to announce Monkton Wyld CAMPING & CARAVAN HOLIDAY Park has been selected to receive the ONLINE AWARD FOR CARAVAN PARK OF THE YEAR 2011, an independent Award Programme recognised both locally and nationally.
Offering a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, award-winning Monkton Wyld CAMPING & CARAVAN HOLIDAY Park has been welcoming visitors for over 20 years, many of whom have been coming back year after year, as Joanna Kewley, owner of the Park outlined in a recent interview: “We began welcoming visitors in 1991 and since those early days the park has flourished into a wonderful location to base your visit to West Dorset. We have also enhanced the site by the careful planting of native woodland to divide the grounds into several separate small paddocks which add to the general atmosphere of peace and quiet.
Set in 25 acres of beautifully landscaped and carefully maintained grounds, this award-winning park complements the rich landscape of the West Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Shrubs, trees and flowers abound while mature oaks spread across surrounding farmland that forms the rolling countryside. Boasting a prestigious development of luxury holiday homes, Monkton Wyld Holiday Park has recently completed the final phase of this unique development: “We are confident that you will be delighted with the high standard provided, not available elsewhere. We have pitches available for a holiday home of your choice and to suit your budget.”
The Park also incorporates The Camping and Caravanning Club's 'Charmouth Site', which acts as a seal of approval to those considering buying a holiday home on a Club site, providing them with the peace of mind that they are joining the oldest camping and caravanning club in the world with their renowned expertise and quality of service.
New for the 2011 season the Park also offers a large and luxurious Safari Tent, based on the design of tents used on the great African Safari's, you will find yourself camping in a grand style: “Our Safari Tent provides a large living area, with timber floor and two separate bed areas, one with a comfortable double bed, the other with twin beds which can be converted to bunks if required, providing sleeping for up six people.”
Specifically commissioned for Monkton Wyld, the hand-built Safari Tent provides you with the utmost in luxurious camping. Made by British craftsmen, they are constructed of heavy duty canvas over a timber frame with a large fly sheet which extends over the front, providing shelter for an outside sitting area. The front of the tent is secured by heavy duty chunky zips which can be adjusted to either provide a simple door opening or opened completely to let the outside in: “In the hot days of summer the Safari Tent, with its’ double fly sheet remains cool, whilst on chilly Autumn evenings a log burning stove helps keep you warm.”
Open daily from 9.00 am until either 5.00 pm or 7.30 pm depending on the season, the Park Shop offers a wide variety of local produce including bread baked in Charmouth, milk from cows across the Yarcombe valley, and meat from the outstanding Axminster butcher, together with jams, biscuits and multi award winning local wines and beers.
Joanna added: “Visitors will find basic day to day food items in the Shop, together with a range of confectionery, ice creams, cards and gifts. We supply a wide range of camping equipment - tent pegs, batteries, citronella candles, barbecues etc. together with general household items.”
The surrounding area of West Dorset also offers plenty of fun family days out from adventure play parks to animal sanctuaries and caves including Monkey World; Seaton Tramway; Wookey Hole; Crealy Adventure Park; Abbotsbury Swannery; Axe Valley Bird & Animal Park and Splashdown – The ultimate water park of the Southwest.
A member of the Camping & Caravan Club, it comes as no surprise to learn the Park is no stranger to receiving commendations, having achieved the David Bellany Gold Conservation Award, been chosen Loo of the year 2010, finalist in the Top 100 Caravan Sites in 2010; accredited as a 5* Touring & Camping site by the English Tourism Board, the list just goes on and on!
Receiving the ONLINE AWARD FOR CARAVAN PARK OF THE YEAR 2011 serves as a distinguishing factor that ranks Monkton Wyld CAMPING & CARAVAN HOLIDAY Park amongst the best, as well as acting as a seal of approval to prospective clients.
Commenting on receiving this accolade, Joanna went on to say: “We are delighted to have been chosen for this award, which has only been made possible thanks to the hard work and dedication of the entire team at Monkton Wyld.”
