ALL HALLOWS CONVENT
AN OASIS OF TRANQUILITY
IN WHICH TO RELAX, pray & find an inner peace
An Anglican Religious Community set in 22 acres of beautiful grounds on the outskirts of the village of Ditchingham, near the historic town of Bungay, All Hallows Convent is run by Sisters, who have taken vows to live the religious life in the Community for life.
In a recent interview Becky Gosling, Convent Secretary outlined the Retreat facilities available at the Convent: “The Sisters at the Community run four small Retreat Houses; three at Ditchingham and one in Norwich, which may be booked by individuals or small groups for ‘Quiet Day’ Retreats for One Day through to longer retreats for a maximum stay of two weeks.”
“With the responsibility for running the All-Hallows Hospital and Conference Centre now undertaken in-house, the Sisters at the Convent are able to dedicate more time to organizing a programme of retreats throughout the year.”
Despite being an Anglican Religious Community, the Convent’s facilities are available to anyone who feels they would benefit from making use of them, Becky added: “Individually guided retreats, spiritual direction or a listening ear are available but we do not provide therapeutic or medical support. The sisters are unable to cater for young families and all visitors must be able to care for themselves or bring an appropriate carer with them.”
“This year for the first time we ran a series called 'Teach us to Pray', consisting of four Saturday sessions which looked at three styles of prayer to try and one sort we all experience - the difficult prayer when the best we can manage is 'Dear Lord, I'm bored!'. Details of the full programme of Retreats are available on website: www.all-hallows.org.
The Convent provides simple but comfortable accommodation within a peaceful, friendly environment where visitors can contemplate, pray and find an inner peace. Bed-lined is provided, but guests are required to bring their own soap and towels. In line with current legislation smoking is not permitted inside any building.
Conveniently situated approximately 12 miles south of Norwich on the B1332 road, the Convent’s well kept grounds are designed to support quiet reflection; with the surrounding scenic countryside providing many delightful walks.
